My Great-Grandfather was Jeremiah "Mack" Wimberly, he owned and operated a meat market in Austin, Texas in the late 1800's. Does this ring a bell with any Wimberly's out there? An interesting story I was told by my grandmother, Amy Wimberly, wife of Wilbur Alonzo Wimberly, Sr. The story was that our last name used to be spelled Wimberley, but that another Wimberley Family moved in to the area. Well this "other" family made trouble and made a bad name for themselves, so to dismiss any association my ancestors dropped the extra E. This took place sometime in the 1800's I was told.
